After the Thursday morning laying of the wreath ceremony at the grave of its namesake W.B. Dumas, Dumas will host its annual Ding Dong Daddy Days, a 4-day festival featuring a barbecue dinner, mystery dinner theater, a parade, and lots of activities. The schedule of events:

Thursday, July 28

  • 10 a.m. — Laying of Wreath Ceremony at W. B. Dumas grave, Dumas Junior High School Campus
  • 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. — Barbecue Dinner, Dumas Community Center,  18 Belmont. Judge Mark McElroy, Emcee. 2011 Ding Dong Daddy and Mama announced. Tickets $10.00 in advance or at the door. Drawing for $100 cash. Drawing for 10/22 Rifle w/Tasco 4×32 scope. Musical entertainment, Shannon Nash.

Friday, July 29

  • 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. — Class Reunion Registration and Tours Desha County Museum
  • 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. — Food & Craft Vendors, talent show and performances on main stage – Downtown Dumas on Court Street
  • 7 p.m. Muuurder in Maaaybury, Mystery Dinner Theatre, Dumas Area Arts Council, Inc.Street Tickets $20.00 at the door

Saturday, July 30

  • 6 a.m.– 10 a.m. Merle Peterson Memorial Pancake Breakfast First Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 230 Court Street. Tickets $5 at the door.
  • 7 a.m. — Walk of the Ding Dong Daddy 5K Run/Walk
