A Dumas man is facing capital murder charges in connection with the Friday afternoon shooting of his 25-year-old girlfriend, Amanda Madden.

Marquis Ontrell Poole, 26, is alleged to have shot Madden three times with a revolver in the kitchen of her mother’s Dumas apartment. Madden’s 6-year-old child reportedly was in the room where the shooting occurred, according to police testimony at Poole’s probable cause and first appearance hearing before Circuit Judge Bynum Gibson Monday afternoon.

Madden’s mother, who was in the living room when the shooting occurred, told police she heard three gun shots then rushed to the kitchen where she saw her daughter lying on the floor.

“You shot my baby!” Madden’s mother said to Poole, according to a Dumas police officer’s testimony at Poole’s Monday afternoon hearing. The officer said Madden’s mother was referring to her adult daughter, Amanda.

The officer said Madden’s mother told him that Poole responded, “(F_ _ _), your daughter.”

Poole is charged with capital murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Gibson ordered Poole to be held without bond in the Dumas City Jail.
