In a joint investigation with the Dumas and Monticello police departments, the 10th Judicial District Drug Task Force on Friday seized a substantial amount of crack cocaine in Dumas that was believed to be destined for Monticello, according to Lt. Jason Akers, the drug task force supervising agent.
Kadren Reed, 33, and Charles Verser, 47, both of Dumas were attempting to deliver the crack cocaine to a courier who would deliver it to Monticello, Akers said.
The crack cocaine had a street value of about $5,400.
Both Reed and Verser were charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Reed’s bond was set at $25,000 and Verser’s bond was set at $10,000.
They are being held in the Dumas jail, according to Akers.
