Dumas police are investigating two weekend shootings in which three people were injured.

The first shooting occurred Saturday at 3 a.m. when a man reportedly fired into a crowd of people injuring two people. The shooting, which occurred in the Choctaw and Maple streets area, stemmed from some type of confrontation, according to a news release from the Dumas Police Department.

Police arrested Latrel Phipps, 25, of Pine Bluff in connection with the shooting.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital and one was later transferred to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. The condition of the victims is not available according to the news release.

The second shooting occurred Sunday at 2:30 a.m. when a man was shot following an altercation at a private party. The victim was transported to a local hospital and transferred to Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
