The Women’s Service League in Dumas is selling cookbooks to raise funds to help further community projects and scholarships for students. Red Aprons – 40 Years of Service, a spiral-bounded cookbook, features a collection of tried-and-true recipes submitted by current and sustaining members of the league. Each contributor provided recipes that they are known for in the community as well as some that have been passed down through generations. Some recipes were also taken from the group’s previous cookbook.
The cookbook features many recipes and fresh ideas such as Quick Meals for Busy Moms, Kid’s Corner and Slow Cooker Dinners.
Cookbooks are currently being sold for $20 at Meador’s Pharmacy and The Gift Shop in Dumas. The group is also in the process of making the cookbooks available in e-book format to be downloadable onto e-readers.
The cookbook is dedicated to the memory of past Women’s Service League members, Susan Blagg Holthoff, Jo Carol Jones Gill and Debbie Puryear.
“Women’s Service League promotes friendship, good will and service to the community of Dumas,” said Women’s Service League president Lindsey Lambert Wilkerson. “We spend the year fundraising, striving to provide as much support to the community as possible.”
