Earl Dee Slaughter, 89, of Monticello, passed away on May 25, at is home.
He was a retired Command Sgt. Major in the United States Army with more than 25 years of service and was a member of Rose Hill Cumberland Presbyterian.
Mr. Slaughter was born on September 23, 1928 in Drew County to the late Jim Slaughter and Myrtle Brown Slaughter.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Slaughter was preceded in death by three brothers, John Slaughter, Joe Slaughter and Lewis Slaughter; three sisters, Agnes Hood, Lois Judkins and Flora Mae Avery.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Manon Allen Slaughter of Monticello; a son, John Gregory Slaughter and wife Donna of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Debbie Slaughter Clark and husband Charles of Overland Park, Kansas; a grandson, Gregory Allen Slaughter and wife Elisa of Phoenix, Arizona; a granddaughter, Christina Kruse and husband Brian of Columbia Falls, Montana; two great-granddaughters, Stella and Mia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cumberland Church. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery.
