Earl “Whitey” Stein, 90, of Hamburg, died on September 3, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Stein was a native of Latrobe, Pennsylvania; a resident of Hamburg for the past 30 years and a resident of Dallas, Texas for many years.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, owner of Jokey’s Rug Cleaning Service in Dallas, Texas and was an Oriental rug expert.
He was a member of The River Church. He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar and golf. Family was very important to him and he loved family gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Toon Stein in 1970; a son, Charles Douglas “Chuck” Stein in 2008; a step-son, James Author Cason; a step-daughter, Shirlie Cason Fredrick; a grandson, Wade Sibley and a great-grandson, Kye Wells; his parents Denis and Josephine Priester Stein; seven brothers, Joe, Morris, Raymon, George, Charlie, Floyd and Regis Stein and three sisters, Amelia Kloos, Edna Schultz and Ester Stein.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jessie Porter Cason Stein of Hamburg; a son, Andrew Mark Stein of Dallas, Texas; two stepsons, Johnny Cason of Eudora and Ray Cason of Indian Mound, Tennessee; four step-daughters, Inez Sibley of Eudora, Margaret McCrory, Christine Roberts and Fay White all of Hamburg; a sister, Ruth Stein of Latrobe, Pennsylvania; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on September 7, at 10 a.m. at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Grant officiating. Burial with military honors will be at the Flat Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Eli Roberts, James Allen Roberts, Scott Roberts, Casey Sibley, Neal Sibley and Cliff Wells.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
