Early voting is underway in the runoff between Joe Rogers and Zack Tucker, the top two vote-getters in the June 24 special election for mayor of Monticello. The winner of this election will serve until December 31, 2014, the remainder of the late Mayor Allen Maxwell’s term.

Both candidates, along with three others, have also filed to run in the November general election for the upcoming four-year term for mayor.

Rogers, an independent, is a local businessman and former mayor of Monticello. Zack Tucker, a Democrat, is the current assistant to the mayor.

Early voting continues through Friday and resumes on Monday at the Drew County Courthouse. Early voting hours are 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Election day voting is Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the city’s four polling sites.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
