Edell August Usry, 64, of Wilmar, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Bradley County Medical Center with his family by his side, after losing his battle with cancer.
He was born February 22, 1952 in Wilmar to the late Cozell and Augustine Burt Usry.
Mr. Usry was a United States Army veteran and a member of the Baptist faith. He was a 1970 graduate of Wilmar High School and attended Pines Vocational Technical School in Pine Bluff where he learned to be a body repairman. He worked in that trade for a number of years, first at the Jackson Chevrolet Body Shop in Monticello, then at the late T.K. Ashcraft’s body shop in Warren. He then started welding for a living until his retirement. He was a member of Pipeliners Local 798.
Mr. Usry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Harton Usry, whom he married August 20, 1971 in Warren; two sons, Tony Usry and wife Tanya of Warren and Ryan Usry and wife Stacy of Monticello; a granddaughter Samatha Herman-Usry of Bearden; two grandsons, Jarrett Usry of Warren and Lane Usry of Monticello; a great grandson Colt Curry of Bearden; a sister, Babetta Milner and husband Mack of Wilmar; two brothers, Dozell Usry and wife Virginia and F.D. “Pudden” Usry and wife Donna of Wilmar; several nieces and nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on January 27 at 16th Section Cemetery with Bro. Larry Donaldson officiating. Burial will be at 16th Section Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Cody Smith, Ross Smith, Chad Word, Billy Webb, Doyle “Bucky” Burton, Roy “Bimbo” Huskey, Tim Ferrell and Jim Ferrell.
