Edgar William Stain, 68, of Dumas, passed away on April 11, 2016 at his home.
He was a law enforcement officer who served the Dumas Police Department from 1974 until 1983 and the Desha County Sheriff’s Office from 1988 until 2007. He was also a Desha County Constable for 40 years, a retired volunteer fire fighter for 25 years, master electrician for 35 years and a 32nd degree Mason of Omega Lodge. He was a member of Rankin Chapel Baptist Church in Dumas.
Mr. Stain was born on October 3, 1947 at Back Gate and was the son of the late Roy and Myrtis Cleaver Stain.
Survivors are his wife, Rose Blackwood Stain of Dumas; a son Steven (Tammy) Stain of Monticello; two brothers, Leroy Stain of Pine Bluff and Billy Stain of Yellville; three sisters, Betty Magness of Dumas, Bea Smith of Dumas, and Margaret Stafford of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Kendall, Kelli Jo and Kevin Stain.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kendall Stain; a brother, Joe Stain; and a sister Loetta Stain.
Visitation is April 12 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas.
Funeral services will be held on April 13 at 2 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas followed by burial in Walnut Lake Cemetery.
