Edith Virginia Smith, 85, of McGehee died December 8, 2013 at Parkway Health Center in Little Rock.

Virginia was born in Natchez, Miss. on March 17, 1928 and was the daughter of the late James and Floy Davidson Chapman.

She graduated as salutatorian from Woodruff High School, in West Helena and worked alongside her husband at the State Farm Insurance Agency in West Helena. She was a longtime member of Richmond Hill Church of Christ in West Helena before moving to McGehee. She loved gardening, canning vegetables and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Smith, Sr. and son, Harold Smith, Jr.

Survivors include her sons David (Patti) Smith of McGehee, John Mark Smith of North Little Rock, Timothy (Melissa) Smith of Jonesboro, and James (Diane) Smith of Batesville; a daughter, Cynthia (Donald) Foster of Kennard, Texas; and 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena on December 13 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. chapel service.

Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in West Helena.
