Edsel Jennings Harris, 88, of Warren, died June 8, 2014 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado.

He was a former mayor of Wilmar, owner and operator of Harris Grocery Store for more thant 25 years, a Free and Accepted Mason, and a United States Army veteran who served in Korea.

Mr. Harris was born on March 7, 1926 at Wilmar and was the son of the late Franklin Polk Harris and Olga Viola Prinzing Harris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Harris; an infant brother; and two sisters Elizabeth Harris and Betty Harris.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Carpenter Harris; a son Bruce Harris and spouse Sheila, Monticello; a brother, B.K. Harris and spouse Joy of Hamburg; a sister, Marty Ketzscher of North Little Rock; and two grandchildren, Amanda Harris and April Harris, both of Monticello.

Funeral services will be held June 11 at 2 p.m. at Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be June 10 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
