Edward Delane Ponder, 77, of Fulton, Mississippi, formerly of Lake Village, died January 7, 2015 at Sanctuary House in Tupelo, Mississippi.

He was a retired river boat captain.

Mr. Ponder was born November 9, 1937 at Glenn Allan, Mississippi and was the son of the late John Elton Ponder and Betty Lee Stokes Ponder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Johnny, Tommy, Kenny and Billy Ponder and two sisters, Wilma Ponder and Diane Jacobs.

Survivors are wife, Helen Lucille Ponder, of Fulton, Mississippi; a son, James E. Ponder; a stepson, William Nichols Jr.; five daughters, Elaine Strickland, Tangela Harbison, Patricia Pace, Gail Caldwell, and Trudy Ponder; three stepdaughters, Deborah Haskins, Rebecca Newsome, and Patty Nichols; three sisters, Helen Bryant, Jean Wright, and Dorthy Cresent; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be January 9 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held on January 10 at noon at the funeral home with a visitation starting at 11 a.m.
