Elizabeth Ann Morman Gatling, 77, of Monroe, Louisiana, formerly of Hamburg and Lake Village, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Speciality Hospital in Monroe after a long illness.
Mrs. Gatling was a native of Hamburg who moved to Lake Village to live on the lake for several years. She later moved to Monroe, Louisiana to be near her daughter. She worked for the Department of Human Services for 32 years and retired as the director. She enjoyed her work and making a difference in the lives of others.
Mrs. Gatling was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ollie Allison Morman and two sisters, Lurline Cecola and Louise Morris.
She is survived by a daughter, Myra Gatling Akers and husband, Brad, of Monroe, Louisiana; four sisters, Elese White of Hamburg, Ruby Phillips Morgan of Bastrop, Louisiana, Aline Kitchens and husband, Clint, of Bastrop, Louisiana and Vickie Thurman and husband, Danny Ray, of Petal, Mississippi and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27 at Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating.
Burial will be at the Cleveland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roy Anderson, Brad Akers, Mitchell White, Raymond Karnes, Danny Ray Thurman and Reed Griffin.
