Elizabeth Haste Cooke Hansen, 82, of Little Rock, formerly of Dumas, passed away on June 13, 2016.
She was the valedictorian of the Dumas High School Class of 1951 and a member of the basketball team. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Mrs. Hanson “Betty” retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 25 years of service as an accountant. She was a member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church in Little Rock. An avid bridge player, she achieved the Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League in 1976. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
The daughter of the late Dr. Robert Samuel Cooke and Martha Haste Cooke, Mrs. Hanson was born at Dumas on September 22, 1933.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cooke, Jr. and a sister, Waldene Whitelaw.
Survivors are her husband, James L. Hansen of Little Rock; one daughter, Lisa Hansen House and husband, John of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Mark Springer, Sarah House and John House, Jr., and one great grandson, Ethan House.
Graveside memorial services will be held on June 18 at 1 p.m. at Walnut Lake Cemetery.
