Ellen Rosen Rice Hesselbein, 102, of Bossier City, Louisiana, formerly of Monticello, passed away on May 31, 2016.
She was the widow of Marvin Rice and Rev. Frank Hesselbein, a homemaker and was dedicated to the Lord and the Assembly of God Church movement. Mrs. Hesselbein was always helpful to all and loved doing things for others.
Mrs. Hesselbein was born on September 21, 1913 in Ashley County and was the daughter of the late Frank Rosen and Katie Mae Dailey Rosen.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Rev. Paul Hesselbein; three brothers, Jim Wilson, Benjamin Rosen and Nick Rosen; two sisters, Kathelene Carlock and Angelene Swan; a grandson, Richard Thomas “Ricky” Carmical; and a granddaughter, Ruth Ellen Rice.
Survivors include a son, Harold Rice of North Little Rock; a daughter, Joyce Jean Carmical Hines of Bossier City, Louisiana; a sister, Mary Bays of Hamburg; nine grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A graveside service will be held on June 6 at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello.
