Elliot “Dane” Bawcom, 43, of Montrose, died on October 31, 2018 at JRMC in Pine Bluff.
Mr. Bawcom grew up working at his grandfather’s grocery store, Portland IGA, in Portland, Arkansas.
He always had a big smile on his face and was a joy to be around. He was a loyal friend, a loving, faithful husband, and an avid New Orleans Saints fan.
Mr. Bawcom struggled with addiction for many years, but found freedom from his addiction through Jesus Christ. He was committed to serving at John 3:16 ministries in Charlotte, Arkansas for many years. Through his work and service at John 3:16, he was able to help many men find the same freedom through Jesus Christ as an instructor, mentor, and teacher there. He was also the head of catering at John 3:16 ministries.
He was born on February 28, 1975 in Dermott. He is the son of Larry and Linda Bawcom of Montrose and Debbie Whitaker of Lake Village.
Mr. Bawcom was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn, whom he loved dearly. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, who impacted his life greatly.
He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Jillian Bawcom (Bubba) Lemons of McGehee, Buffie Holton of Irving, Texas, Shelly Baldwin of Alabama; a brother, Brian Rush of Monticello; and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday November 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Ark of Faith, Monticello. Arrangements are by Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village.
John 3:16 states: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” Dane will be remembered as one who believed wholeheartedly in the Son of the Living God, Jesus the Christ.
