Eloise Rodgers Tooke, 86, of Rye, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2020 in Monticello.
She was born on April 25, 1933, in the Kedron (Randall) community to Newt and Ophie Rodgers and was raised in the fellowship of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a 1951 graduate of Woodlawn High School. On October 31, 1954, she married Billy Hunt Tooke and moved to the family farm at Rye where she was a homemaker. After she was widowed, she became the elementary school secretary at Woodlawn, a position she held for 25 years until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of Prosperity United Methodist Church, where she faithfully played the piano for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an older brother, Billy Charles, who died in childhood.
Survivors are sons, Dewayne Tooke (Sara) and Tommy Tooke (Sandra), all of Rye, and Dennis Tooke (Lisa) of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; a daughter, Kara Olsen (Darren) of Auburn, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Aaron Tooke (Lindsey), Emily McElroy (Brandon), Todd Tooke (Leah), Crystal McCoskey (Shannon), Melissa Rawls (Cody), David Tooke (Shelby), Cameron Tooke, and Harper and Tate Olsen; five great-grandchildren, Faith and Rowdy Tooke, Kendall Tooke, and Evan and Audrey Kate McCoskey; a sister, Sewilda Jacks (Billy) of Randall community; and a brother, Derrell Rodgers (Dorothy) of Mountain View.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 26, at Union United Methodist Church at Rye with Bro. Charles Woolley officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.
