Elsa Raye Phillips Cason, 88, of Fountain Hill, passed away on July 14, 2014 at Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett.
She was born May 7, 1926 in Fountain Hill and was the daughter of the late Ray R. and Ora E. Hester Phillips.
Mrs. Cason graduated from Fountain Hill High School and Draughon’s School of Business in Little Rock. She worked for Arkansas Automobile Association several years and worked as a legal secretary in Phoenix, Ariz., before returning to Fountain Hill.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fountain Hill for approximately 40 years and was the pianist there and for the Sunday School class at the Pillars.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Velton W. Cason and a brother, Millard E. Phillips.
She is survived by two brothers, James A. Phillips (Maxine) of Houston, Texas, and William R. “Bill” Phillips (JoAnn) of Crossett; a sister, Gladys H. Lane of Lubbock, Texas; a sister-in-law, Edith Phillips of Crossett; four stepsons, Bobby Lamar (Sheila) of Rogers, Jonathan, Lynn and Sam Cason of Anchorage, Alaska and seven nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held July 17 at 2 p.m., at the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Elton officiating. Interment will follow at Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Visitation will be at the church on July 17, one hour prior to the service, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
