Esther Alice Klase Copeland, 89, of Star City, passed away on June 4, 2020 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock.
She was born in Thompsontown, Pennsylvania to Mr. and Mrs. John and Lattie Strauser Klase.
She was an active member of Yorktown Freewill Baptist Church for many years but recently attended Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She took her CNA training at Mercer County Hospital in Evansville, IN, where she was employed. Later on she worked at Mercer County Nursing Home and also worked at Star City Nursing Home. After retiring from there, she provided home nursing, caring for many patients. She also worked in the emergency room at Drew Memorial Hospital. In her younger years, she was a Girl Scout Leader and won many awards.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Leon Copeland, Sr.; her daughter, Linda Horn; and a grandson, JR Lay.
Survivors include five children, Charles (Daisy) Copeland, Jr. and Brian (Jan) Copeland, of Star City, Terry F. Copeland and Patricia McGaughey, both of Monticello, and Kyle “Butch” Copeland of Star City; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Oak Grove Cemetery (on Atkins Rd. south of Yorktown, across from Mt. Nebo Church) with Bro. Michael Powell officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 3:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the cemetery.
Pallbearers are Drew Powell, David Hunsaker, Ronald Morgan, Blake Morgan, Bobbie Harper, Clifford Bennett, Danny Bennett and Jamie Allbright.
