Ethel Mae Summit Spears, 93, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Belle View Estates Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on March 17, 1925 in Sims, Arkansas to the late Charlie Summit and Pairlee West Summit.
She was the widow of Arl Clayton Spears, retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of Lacey Assembly of God Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Clayton Spears; one sister, Bessie Mullins; three brothers, James Summit, Virgil Summit and Kirby Summit.
She loved cooking, gardening and quilting. She was a very devoted Christian and loved her Church and serving others with her sweet spirit. She loved her family, was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Arlie Spears and Dennis Spears “Hilda”, both of Monticello; three daughters, Lela Hall, Shirley Chapman and Anne Scott “Eugene”, all of Monticello; two sisters, Hazel Colbert of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Hattie Fisher of Perry, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and eighteen great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 1, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will be at the Beulah Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
