Ethyl Amelia Shell, 96, of Hamburg, died January 1, 2021.
Mrs. Shell was a homemaker and worked for Ashley Chicot Electric Cooperative for 27 years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, where she was the oldest living member. She was involved in the Women Missionary Union, and taught Sunday school in the Children’s Department for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Shell, Sr., in 1950; her parents, Barton “Bart” & Amelia Farrar Smith; a sister, Dell Aultman, and a brother, Edwin Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn McGilton and husband, Noel Dean, of Hamburg and Jacolyn Goodwin and husband, Jimmy, of Crossett; two sons, Jack Shell, Jr., and wife, Kathryn, of Hamburg and James R. Shell and wife, Patricia, of Berryville; seven grandchildren, Kevin McGilton, Chris McGilton, Amanda Goodwin Feeser, Boyett Goodwin, Kayla Shell, Farrah Shell and Jim Bob Shell, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three nieces and one nephew.
Private funeral services will be held with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 352, Hamburg, AR 71646.
