Eula V. Hicks, 78 of Monticello passed away February 8, 2014 at Belleview Nursing and Rehab in Monticello.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1935 and was the daughter of the late George Davis and Dell Fletcher.
Mrs. Hicks attended Drew High School and was an active member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Monticello until her health failed. She accepted Christ at a very early age under the leadership of the Rev. W.H. King at the Morning Star Baptist Church. She was a choir member and served in other capacities, including usher. She was a very active member for over 60 years.
In 1956, Mrs. Hicks married Leslie James Hicks and they had two children. They preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Davis and Dell Fletcher; her children, Barbara Hicks and Leslie James, Jr.; three brothers, J.D., Nolen and Roscoe Davis; and two sisters, Robbie Lee Davis and Sarah Francis Fletcher.
She is survived by one step-daughter, Vanessa (Tommy) Daniels of Monticello; one brother, Dennis (Julie) Batts of New Holsteine, Wis; one sister, Hattie Mae Davis of Baltimore; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral services will be held February 14 at 11 a.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church in Monticello under the direction of Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home of Monticello. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello.
