Eunice Thomasson Owen, 90, of Pine Bluff, died June 14, 2014.
She was a graduate of Woodlawn High School where she was salutatorian. She was a charter member and Past Matron of Star Chapter 608 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years, was past president of the ladies auxiliary, and had many leadership roles. She was also a member of the Star City Garden Club, and worked at the polls as a judge/clerk for all elections.
She was born September 5, 1923 in Herbine and was the daughter of the late Edgar and Myrtle Workman Thomasson.
Also preceding her in death was her husband of 43 years, Virgil Lewis Owen; 4 brothers, Guy Thomasson, James L. “Bud” Thomasson, Jewel Lee “Pete” Thomasson, Charles Thomasson; and 1 sister, Lois Taylor.
Survivors include a son, Roger Owen and Angel of Star City; daughter, Marilyn Owen Hooks and Johnny of Little Rock; 1 brother, Ed Thomasson of Pine Bluff; 3 sisters, Mamie Crane of Little Rock, Opal Green of Jonesboro, Betty James of Randall; 5 grandchildren, Kelli Montgomery, Kevin Owen, Tara Spegar, Brittany Knowles, Kyle Owen; and 5 great grandchildren, Peyton, Dylan, Savannah, Carter and Graham.
Funeral Services will be held June 17 at 10 a.m. at New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 14060 Hwy. 54 South in Pine Bluff. with Bros. Johnnie Brewster and Joseph Pemberton officiating. Burial will be at the New Owen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Owen, Darryl Owen, Mack Owen, Toby Simmons, Randy Blasengame, Don Montgomery and W.A. Owen.
