Evelyn Cater, 78 of Monticello, passed away on July 25, 2016 at Belle View Nursing & Rehab Facility in Monticello.
She was born May 1, 1938 in California to the late Gus and Evelyn Slutter Wiebenga. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by her husband Charles (Chuck) Cater and a brother, Harold Wiebenga.
She was a nurse for many years and provided private care for the Trotter family. She was also employed at the Drew County Courthouse and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Cater loved spending time with her family and playing with her great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wiebenga.
She is survived by one son, Ricky Cater and wife Chris of Monticello; one grandson Nick Cater and wife Jenna of Monticello; one very special great-grandson, Gage Cater; one sister, Patty Davis of Eugene, Oregon; two brothers Gus Wiebenga of Monticello and John Wiebenga and wife Donna of Salem, Oregon; and two special friends Betty Norton and Peggy Williams.
Visitation will be held on July 27 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
A funeral service will be held on July 28 at 4 p.m. at Rose Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be at Gaster Hill Cemetery.
