Evelyn Gavin Thornton, 81, of Warren died July 19, 2014 at her home.

She was a retired medical receptionist for Drs. Crow and Pennington, providing 30 years of dedicated service to her patients and community.

Mrs. Thornton lived life to the fullest as she traveled the world with her husband, Wilburn Thornton, Jr. She loved gardening, homemaking, and her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was born January 12, 1933 at Rye and was the daughter of the late Tom Gavin and Alma Wooldridge Gavin.

Also preceding her in death was a son, Tommy Thornton; a brother, Floyd Gavin; and a sister, Eva Dean Tarver.

Survivors are her husband, Wilburn Thornton, Jr.; a son, Allan Thornton and wife P.J. of Bryant; two brothers, Maurice Gavin and J. B. Gavin both of Rye; two grandchildren, Heather Sullins and husband Rodney of Bryant, and Brandon Thornton of Little Rock; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Carter Sullins.

Graveside services will be held July 21 at 2 p.m. at Union Cemetery at Rye by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren. The family will receive friends at their home.
