Monticello’s Market in the Park has set its 2020 opening date for Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m until 11 a.m. The market is located on South Main Street, north of the Drew County courthouse.
With delays due to covid-19 and the weather, produce vendors are anxious to get started.
Arkansas Department of Health guidelines allow for only produce and food items at this time with plans to include craft vendors later this spring as allowed.
Pandemic guidelines issued by the Arkansas Department of Health will temporarily give Market in the Park a different look this year. The street closest to the park will be blocked off to control vehicle and foot traffic flows. Use the entrance to the north of the courthouse and park in the area in front of the county jail. Designated parking areas for order pick up and disabled patrons will be marked. Please follow the pathways established to maintain social distancing.
Produce available at the Market on Saturday will be posted on Market in the Park’s Facebook on Friday, May 15 by 5 p.m. Most produce will be pre-packaged and priced. There will be a call-in/pick-up area with curbside delivery to your vehicle. We ask that you plan to bring correct change – no large bills – so that vendors do not have to handle money unnecessarily.
Market in the Park Farmers’ Market and More requires that produce sold be raised by the vendor, not purchased for resale. Craft items must be handcrafted locally. Homemade items must follow Cottage Home Guidelines from the Arkansas Department of Health that includes a label listing ingredients and the producer’s name and address.
Applications for booth space at Market in the Park are available at the Monticello-Drew County Chamber of Commerce or by calling Glenda Nichols at the Chamber 367-6741. Applications must be completed at least seven days before setting up a booth. There is no charge for vendor spaces. Last year’s vendors may update contact information by calling the Chamber, there is no need to complete a new application.
