A whole slew of candidates, primarily Republicans, have said they are entering the 4th Congressional District race since U.S. Rep. Mike Ross announced last month that he would not seek reelection.
On the Republican side, Beth Ann Rankin, who lost to Ross in the 2010 race, says she’s running; Marcus Richmond, a businessman and veteran from Scott County, is running; and Tom Cotton, a Dardanelle lawyer and member of the U.S. Army Reserve, says he’s running.
On the Democratic side, Gene Jeffress, a state senator from Ouachita County, is running.
“I haven’t made a formal announcement but I’m not running from it either,” Jeffress said. “We’ll make an announcement sometime in September.”
Jeffress told Seark Today Wednesday morning that he believes he may very well be the only Democrat in the race. “All of those (Democrats) mentioned earlier have thrown their support behind me,” he said.
