The water tank of an Arkansas Forestry Commission tanker plane, pictured left, is refilled early Thursday evening at the municipal airport in Monticello. The plane was en route to a forest fire in southern Drew County.

Meanwhile, a Black Hawk helicopter, not pictured, filled a large bucket with water from a nearby pond and headed toward the fire with the bucket suspended from the bottom of the helicopter.

Firefighters from the Arkansas Forestry Commission, rural fire departments and the Monticello Fire Department battled the forest fire which was about a mile west of Ponderosa Lane, a small rural road off Beulah Road west of U.S. 425 South near Lacey. The fire burned about 75 acres. It was contained Thursday night.
