First Day Hike
Start 2017 off right with a First Day Hike on January 1 in Southeast Arkansas. Join park staff and others at Cane Creek State Park, Lake Chicot State Park or Moro Bay State Park in this national movement to begin the new year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on January 1.

Lake Chicot State Park in Lake Village
Lakeshore Hike
3 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Meeting Place: Behind Campsite 127
Join a park interpreter for a relaxing stroll along the lake shore to search for local wildlife and learn about local history directly relating to Lake Chicot. Delta Woodlands Nature Hike
10 a.m – 11 a.m

Meeting Place: Visitor Center
Join a park interpreter for a guided hike along the Delta Woodlands Nature Trail. Visitors can experience the sights and sounds of nature and learn about the positive and negative effects we have on nature. Cameras, field guides, and binoculars are welcome.

Cane Creek State Park in Star City

Meeting Place: Pavilion 1
A brisk 6-mile guided hike along the edge of two of Arkansas’ great regions, the Delta and the Gulf Coastal Plain. Each region has something different and unique to offer. Join a park interpreter and discover the secrets of each. Be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes, dress in layers for the weather conditions, and bring water. This hike should last 4 hours.
