A low pressure system will significantly impact the state Saturday and Saturday night bringing with it, a very good chance of winter precipitation. There is still some uncertainty regarding exact impacts to the state.
Rain is expected early in the day but as cold air sweeps south, the precipitation will turn over to snow, possibly mixed with some sleet. Areas most likely to see wintry precipitation is northern Arkansas, although it cannot be completely ruled out for central and southern Arkansas.
Snow accumulations of two to four inches are possible in the north while central and southern Arkansas could see up to an inch of snowfall. Locally higher amounts are possible, especially in the higher terrain of the Ozarks. An inch or two of snowfall will also be possible in the higher terrain areas of the Ouachita mountains.
