A former secretary in the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office has been charged with theft in connection with the disappearance of just under $15,000 between January 1, 2010 and April 30, 2011, according to documents filed in Bradley County Circuit Court.

State Police Special Agent Clayton Moss was assigned to investigate a shortage of money following an investigation by state legislative auditors, according to Moss’ case notes.

The file was then turned over to 10th Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen, who charged Tiffany Ann Pennington, 31, of Hermitage, with theft, a Class B felony punishable by 5 to 25 years in prison and a maximum fine of $15,000.
