Forrest “Sonny” Arnold, Jr., 89, of Monticello and formerly of Lake Village, passed away June 22, 2014 at his home in Monticello.
He was born July 14, 1924 in McGehee to the late Forrest E. Arnold, Sr. and Lela Miles Arnold.
Mr. Arnold was a retired mechanic, radiator and body shop owner. He was a member of The Knight of Columbus, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served from 1942-1945, and was a long-time member of the Lake Village Baptist Church.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, beloved father and grandfather who would always take the time to teach his children how to enjoy and appreciate nature. He was also preceded in death by a son, Forrest E. (Buddy) Arnold, III formerly of Monroe, La.
Survivors include his wife, Olivia Warfield Arnold of Monticello; two daughters, Olivia Bradley of Pensacola, Fla., Lela Arnold-Wilson of Monticello; two sons, David W. Arnold of Monticello and Neal Montgomery (Bo) Arnold of Lake Village; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth Thirion of Rockwall, Texas, Elaina Bradley, Dr. Kevin Bradley of Pensacola, Fla., Scott Arnold of Monroe, La., Andrew Arnold of Pensacola, Fla., Stephanie Smith of Alexander City, Ala., Christopher David Arnold and Jeff Arnold both of San Antonio, Texas, Tommy Ashley of Monticello, and Jett Ashley of Flower Mound, Texas: and 19 great-grandchildren and a cousin, Frances Kelly of Oxford, Miss.
Funeral service will be held June 25 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 413 North Main in Monticello with Rev. Bruce Venable officiating. Burial with military honors will be in McGehee Cemetery in McGehee.
