Janie Rabb Fuller, of Monticello, spoke recently to the Monticello Lions Club about the Arkansas Agricultural Department’s “Century Farm” program. Fuller, whose family settled in northern Drew County in 1859, is one of 89 recipients of the Arkansas Century Farm award. The state Agriculture Department awards a certificate and large metalic sign to qualified families who have continuously lived and farmed in Arkansas for at least 100 years. To qualify, the family must submit copies of land deeds and abstracts proving their family heritage and land ownership for 100 years. Fuller received this award from Arkansas’ Secretary of Agriculture, Burch Calhoun, at a recent ceremony in Stuttgart. Fuller said Arkansas is documenting the historical significance of farm families in Arkansas.
