The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team has been predicted to finish ninth during the 2015 season, according to the Great American Conference preseason coaches poll.

Defending conference champion Ouachita Baptist was picked to repeat with half of the first-place votes and a total of 113 poll points, just two points ahead of Harding, who earned three first place votes.

Henderson State earned two first place votes and the third spot in the preseason poll, followed by East Central in fourth with the final first place pick. Southeastern Oklahoma State tied ECU for fourth in total points.

Southern Arkansas was picked sixth, followed in order by Arkansas Tech, Southwestern Oklahoma State, UAM, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene. The GAC’s newest member, Oklahoma Baptist, represents the final spot in the 2015 poll.

The Weevils finished the 2014 season at 2-8 overall and were a combined total of 18 points away from posting a 6-4 record. UAM opens the 2015 season at home on Thursday, September 3 against Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Including that Thursday night game against NWOSU, the Weevils will play at home five times throughout the 2015 season. As usual, tailgate festivities will be held along the east side of Weevil Pond, which also features the “Walk of Champions” two and a half hours prior to the scheduled kickoff time.

With the addition of Oklahoma Baptist to the GAC schedule, the Weevils are set to play a complete 11-game conference schedule for the first time in program history with no bye weeks.

UAM returns 40 lettermen from last year’s squad, including 12 combined starters between offense, defense and special teams.
