Gary Jerome Dye, 78, of Eudora died September 6, 2020 at home in Eudora.
Mr. Dye was born October 9, 1941 in Lake Providence, Louisiana. He was the son of the late Odell Dye and the late Velma (Frith) Dye.
Mr. Dye married Ollie Ruth Ashburn on June 3, 1981 in Oak Grove, Louisiana and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam war. He served two tours, in 1959 and again in 1971. He joined Army National Guards and completed over 20 years of service. He retired from Superior Uniform as a factory worker in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Douglas Wade Stepp; stepdaughter, Kathy Lynn Bradley; half brother, Clyde Fairchild, and sister, Sheila Dye Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Ollie Ruth (Ashburn) Dye; a daughter, Tina Louise Dye of Louisiana; a son, Gary Lynn Dye of Ruston, Louisiana; stepdaughter, Wanda Brown of Lake Village; sister, Linda Dye Hayes of Pulaski, Tennessee; two brothers, Romey Dye of Huntsville, Alabama and Gene Dye of Terry, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Laura Anne Dye, Dyane Elise Williams, Kristal Brown, Phillip Brown and Louanne Bradley; and eight great-grandchildren, Shane Gilbert, Kynlie Murphy, Fisher Murphy, Hunter Bazar, Makenzie Bazar, Ashlyn Brown, Mason Brown and Miley Brown.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12 from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home, located at 1831 S Highway 82-65, in Lake Village. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora with Andy Connard officiating.
