Gaye Thurman Brown, 86, of White Hall, formerly of Dumas, passed away on April 22, 2020.
She was born on February 4, 1934 in Warren and was the daughter of Gordon and Eunice McElvoy Thurman.
Mrs. Brown served as Desha County Tax assessor for 26 years, until her retirement, and was employed as a secretary at Merchant and Farmers bank for 27 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dumas, Eastern Star, Kiwanis, Red Hat Society, Legion Auxiliary, Circle of Friends, and OASIS at Family Church of White Hall.
Her parents, husband, Jack Brown, and daughter, Debra Gay Bottoms all preceded her in death.
Survivors are her son, Raymond J. “Jackie” Brown and wife Cindy of White Hall; a brother, Butch (Barbara) Thurman of Dumas; two sisters, Sheri Ferguson of Rohwer and Paula Hagood of Olive Branch, Mississippi; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
