She was a teacher’s assistant at Dermott Public Schools for several years. She loved to play board games and she was her family’s historian. She was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church.
She was born in Rustin, Louisiana on September 17, 1950 to the late Odes and Mildred Linton Herring.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 47 years Johnny Tipps; her stepmother, Dorothy “Dot” Herring; and a sister, Rebecca Herring.
Survivors include her sisters, Dianne Herring of Dermott, oyce Knight of Dermott, and Carolyn Herring of Monticello; a brother, Calvin Herring and his wife Mary of Phenix City, Alabama; brothers-in-law, Jerry Churchwell of El Dorado, Clinton Tipps and his wife Pearlene of Lake Village, and Larry Tipps and his wife Gaye of Portland; a sister-in-law, Nan Price of Camden; two special nephews, Keith Churchwell of El Dorado and Clinton Tipps, III of Shreveport, Louisiana, several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm at the church with Rev. Bobby Franklin and Rev. Jody Gannaway officiating. Burial will be at Dermott Cemetery.
