George Alvin Owen, 90, of Star City, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy who served during World War II and was a farmer.
Mr. Owen was born on April 29, 1926 and was the son of the late David Sim and Bessie Bee Thompson Owen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee Owen, Leon Owen, Bud Owen; and a sister, Betty Conner.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Earlene Bond Owen of Star City; three sons, Joe (Cheryl) Owen of Star City, Dennis (Glenda) Owen of Dumas and Steve (Kay) Owen of Star City; two brothers, Lloyd Owen of Star City and Nolan Owen of Petit Jean Mountain; four sisters, Louise Parker, Helen Owen, Pauline Myrick and Maxine Grumbles, all of Star City; seven grandchildren, Amy Dean of Star City, Misty Morgan of Monticello, Denise Cox of Memphis, Tennessee, Julie Dunlap, Kevin Owen, Jason Owen and Coy Lewis, all of Star City; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 23 at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ryan Morgan officiating.
Visitation is 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Leek Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jason Dean, Jason Cox, Ryan Morgan, Kevin Owen, Jason Owen and Mason Morgan.
