George E. McCay

George Edward McCay, 94, of Crossett, passed away January 30, 2022, at the Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on November 4, 1927, in Greenhill, Arkansas, to Robert Faris and Ethel Mae Walton McCay.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velda Ruth Ruffin McCay; three brothers, Robert Lewis McCay, Samuel Eugene McCay, and Paul Andrew McCay; two sisters, Viola Elizabeth McCay, and Mary Frances Terrell; and one grandson Adam McCay.

He is survived by his children, Nanci Beth McCay Sanders of Longview, Thomas D. McCay (Peggy) of Calion, Faye Cameron, and Vicki Shirley (Mike) of Crossett, and two brothers, John David McCay of Colorado, and Buddy Cameron (Theresa) of Pensacola, FL.; along with eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

George retired from Georgia Pacific after 46 years of service, beginning with the Crossett Company Chemical Division and ending with Georgia Pacific Paper Division.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945, and spent thirteen months before being honorably discharged. George was an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Crossett where he served as a Charter Member since 1949.

George loved golf, fishing, hunting and traveling.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, at Pinewood Memorial Park with Rev. George Wortham, officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:30-11:00 a.m., prior to the service.

Services entrusted to Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Home in Monticello or the Alzheimer’s Association (Arkansas Chapter).
