Gilbert Leon White, 81, of Star City, died on June 2, 2017 at CHI St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Star City and a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, earning several sharpshooter medals. He was a marksmanship instructor and chief pistol range coach at Barstow, California and a military training instructor in Okinawa, Japan.
Mr. White was a retired machine operator for A.G.L Corp in Jacksonville and a former member of the Diamond State Chorus, Greater Little Rock Chapter.
He was born October 26, 1935 in Chautauqua, Kansas to the late George and Leola Remmy White.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie “Ellen” Chambliss White; brothers, Howard White and Ray White.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Melissa) Brock of Star City; a brother, Larry White of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Naomi Matney of Wichita, Kansas; four granddaughters and three grandsons; three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at Griffin Funeral Service with Bro. J. N. Holmes officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, June 6, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Home Cemetery.
