Gloria Morara

Gloria Morara, 89, of Lake Village, died on August 23, 2019, surrounded by her children, at Chicot Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Morara was born to Italian immigrants Enrico and Maria Mazzanti on May 31, 1930 in Lake Village. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

She met and married the love of her life A.B. Morara in 1948; they were married for 64 years and had five children.

Gloria was the definition of a Renaissance woman. In her early life she was a small business owner alongside her husband. They owned and operated the Readland Mercantile Store. She was with the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years before retiring. After retiring from the postal service, Gloria obtained her real estate license and worked for SEARK Realty for several years.

Gloria loved to spend time with her family. She loved to travel, cook, do yardwork, and serving her church in the Alter Society.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Enrico and Maria Mazzanti; her husband, A.B. Morara; a son, Chris Morara; five brothers, Robert, Ned, Al, Henry, and Victor Mazzanti; a sister Rose McEwen; one grandchild, Michael Davidson; and son-in-law, Mike Davidson.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Morara and Raymond Morara; two daughters, Bea Davidson and and Neva Mayo; five brothers, Joe, Fiore, Gene, Paul, and Frank Mazzanti; a sister, Catherine Talbot, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.

Gloria understood the importance of friendship and met her friends regularly at McDonald’s to enjoy a cup of coffee and catch up on the latest news. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren as a woman to be reckoned with and as an important figure in their spiritual growth. Her love languages were feeding people and praying for them, so her family was always full of spaghetti and the love of the Lord. They will never forget her unshakable faith or how fiercely she loved them.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. with Rosary at 6 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Village. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday August 28, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Village with Father Stephen Hart as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Isidore Cemetery in Lake Village. Arrangements are by Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village, Arkansas.
