Heart disease continues to be the number one killer of all women, taking more lives than the next four leading causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer. While one in 31 women will die from breast cancer each year, one in three women will lose their lives to heart disease. The good news is that up to 80 percent of cardiovascular disease is largely preventable, which is what makes awareness initiatives so critical.
Southeast Arkansas women are invited to dress up in their finest red outfits and join others at the Go Red Gala for an evening of fun, food, entertainment and education featuring heart healthy hors d’ oevures, door prizes and heart health checks. The keynote speaker will be Linda McDougal, a registered nurse, heart disease survivor and chairman of Go Red Ashley County.
The 2-hour event begins at 6 p.m. and is free to woman in Drew and surrounding counties. However, reservations are required. Those interested in attending must reserve their seat no later than January 31. To reserve a seat, call Pollyanna Burt Elton at 870-853-7181.
The event is sponsored by several local health care providers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
