The Drew Memorial Health Foundation, a foundation that raises funds for Drew Memorial Health System in Monticello, recently raised approximately $26,000 at its annual golf tournament, held this year at the Pine Bluff Country Club. It was the most money raised in a single event in the golf tournament’s six-year history.
Since its inception in 2014, the tournament has generated approximately $100,000 for the hospital.
The four-person scramble included 22 teams. Though cash prizes are awarded to the winning and placing teams, those teams have always chosen to donate their winnings back to the foundation.
This year there was a two-way tie for first place (first flight) and a three-way tie for third place (second flight).
The winners were Cablevision and Commercial Bank (both tying for first place, first flight), Emergency Staffing Solutions (third place, first flight), Aramark (first place, second flight), Jefferson Regional Medical Center (second place, second flight) and Weiland Healthcare, Johnson Controls, and Nutrien Ag Solutions (all tying for third place, second flight). Closest to the pin, Tod Bowers and longest drive, Lee Smart. [The winning and placing teams are pictured below.]
Proceeds from the annual golf tournament and other foundation fundraisers such as “Casino Night” and “Dancing with the Stars”, a local “celebrity” dance contest, have gone toward the purchase of equipment and furnishings for the hospital’s Cancer Care Center, a bone densitometer, an obstetrical bed, a digital mammogram machine, a marketing campaign, the post-partum room, and other items for the hospital.
Foundation board members are Tom Wingard, Becky Hammett, Susan Sharp Smith, Elyse Knobloch, Ben Barton, Barbara Barnes, Barbara Brown, Jodie Efird, Mark Tiner, Donna Gardner, Michael Jones, Robert Hargis, and Sheena Garrard. Stephanie Norris is the foundation’s executive director.
