[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]CrowdSome 200 Arkansas Republicans attended the Reagan Day Dinner Friday night in Monticello where they honored U.S. veterans and criticized the Affordable Health Care Act.

In his introduction of keynote speaker U.S. Rep. Tom Cotton, Master of Ceremonies Mike Akin compared the Affordable Health Care Act to the fictitious “Affordable Boat Act.”

Cotton followed with his keynote address, outlining problems with Obamacare.

The group then turned its attention to veterans.

Ret. Lt. Col. Kelly Koonce recognized the veterans attending the event  and remembered the late Sgt. Major Clifford Burks.

Burks, who died in August, served 33 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. and fought in three wars: World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

Dylan Miles sang the Star Spangled Banner to kick off the dinner and auction.

At the conclusion of the event, Drew County Republican Party Chairman Diana Harton presented a $500 check to the VFW Post 4515.

Harton was also recognized for her efforts in building the Republican Party in Drew County.
