The city of Gould owes FEMA more than $32,000 in overpayment of funds during a winter storm 12 years ago, according to a January 26 letter to Gould Mayor Earnest Nash Jr. from the state Department of Emergency Management.
The letter indicates that the city received more than $97,000 for storm clean-up following a winter storm in 2000. However, an audit determined the city was only entitled to just over $65,000.
The city has the following options:
• make full payment on or before April 1
• make two payments, one by April 1 and the final payment by October 1, or
• make four payments, the first due on April 1 and the final payment on January 1, 2013.
