St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Warren will hold a mortgage burning celebration on April 27 at 3:30 p.m. when the church will also dedicate its rose garden and brick walkway. The public is invited to attend.

Rev. Barry H. Spencer is the church pastor and Everett Wallace is the program coordinator.

Bishop Samuel Lawrence Green Sr. of the Twelfth Episcopal District will serve as the speaker for the ceremony.

Green holds as Associate of Science degree from St. Petersburg College; a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida; a Master of Divinity degree from Turner Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia; and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta.

Green served as pastor of St. Mark African Methodist Church in Orlando, Florida from 1988 to 2004. In July 2004 at the 47th Quadrennial Session of the General Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, Bishop Green was elected the 125th elected and consecrated Bishop in the history of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and assigned to the 15th Episcopal District (Angola, Namibia and South Africa). At the 48th Quadrennial Session of the General Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, Bishop Green was assigned to the Twelfth Episcopal District (Arkansas and Oklahoma) of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
