The Guachoya Cultural Art Center in Lake Village will present a “Children’s Theatre on Tour” production of Chicken Little and the Little Red Hen on Saturday, April 4 at 2 p.m. This is a free event, made possible with grants from the Arkansas Arts Council and The King’s Daughters & Sons Circle No. 2 of Greenville.
The best known version of this story in the United States was made popular by Little Golden Books in the 1940’s, but the story was popular well before that date. During the 1880s, the story was often used in reading instructions. It encourages the virtues of hard work and cooperation.
“We all love the story of Henny Penny, who when something fell on her head declared that “the sky is falling” and rushed off to Ducky Lucky for help,” said Vera Pesaresi, executive director of the Guachoya Cultural Art Center. “Guachoya is happy to bring this story alive, with professional actors, to the children of the area free of charge.”
Guachoya is located at 1652 Hwy. 65 & 82 South in Lake Village. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Friday hours are 10 a.m. till 1 p.m.
