The Guachoya Cultural Art Center in Lake Village will host a artist reception on June 9 for Lake Village photographer and painter, Mitzi M. Scarborough.
The reception will be held at the art center from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. The public is invited and there is no admission charge.
Scarborough’s photographs of Lake Chicot sunsets as well as her paintings will be on exhibit at the art centthrough July 26.
A native of Lake Village who has lived on and taken photographs of Lake Chicot since her early teens, Scarborough says she has never failed to appreciate the beauty of the lake.
In 2009, Scarborough took an art class taught by Tracy Holdeman and discovered she also loved to paint. “I learned the most when I was an assistant to Tracy in the children’s art classes,” she said.
Scarborough strives to bring the beauty of water and sky that she sees on Lake Chicot into her paintings. She particularly likes painting large, vast, colorful and romantic landscapes.
