The Guachoya Cultural Art Center in Lake Village will host an exhibit in November and December featuring the photography of John Keen.
The opening reception will be held on Thursday, November 9, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. There will be no admission charge and the public is welcome to attend.
Keen is a professional photographer and a native Mississippian who has spent most of his life in the Mississippi Delta.
He is a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a photographer during the Vietnam War. He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta and a life member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America).
Over the years, much of Keen’s work has consisted of portraits, weddings, special events and commercial photography. His images have appeared in numerous magazines, trade journals and on record and CD covers.
He and his wife Sharon (Sam) own a photography business in Greenville, Mississippi.
Keen is also a part time musician, playing in several local groups including the Lillo’s Thursday Night Band. He is an avid kayaker and canoeist who recently canoed the entire length of the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca, Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico with friend and fellow artist Park Neff.
Guachoya is located in Lake Village at 1652 Hwy. 65 & 82 South. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. For more information call 870-265-6077.
